New service added to Hannibal Airport

(Hannibal, Mo.)  Barron Aviation Private Flight Services has added another service to the Hannibal Airport.  The airport now offers a charter service.  Currently there is only one plane available for charters, but President Mike Barron said he hopes that will grow over time.  He says this service will mainly be used by existing local businesses, but may also attract new business to the area.

"That's what were looking at with the economic development, the future industries coming into the area," said Barron.  "Yes, it will initially help some of the existing businesses, they can be more competitive, compete with other regions, businesses, etc... But also will expansion, with future industries coming in that rely on air travel"

Barron says rural areas may deter future businesses as they may have to drive to a bigger city such as St. Louis for their travel needs.  A local charter service with point to point transportation can sometimes turn a three day trip into a one day trip.
