Preparing for an unknown future today
LIBERTY IL -- Some teachers in the Liberty public school district became students today. The teachers are learning how to use some new technology that the school recently purchased.
The school was able to buy three computers and projectors that act as interactive white boards. Two of the systems are stationed in classrooms, and the third is on a portable cart that can be used in any room throughout the school. Superintendent Curt Simonson said having this kind of technology is a vital step in preparing kids for the future.
"One of the things we try to do is bring varied experiences in for our students. We know that the jobs our second and third graders will occupy haven't even been created yet. So getting these experiences and training them with this technology will really help. That's the goal here," Simonsin said.
Social studies teacher Nicole Mountain says the new technology is already proving very useful.
"It's already a big help. Today we were working on a homework assignment, and I could post the possible answers right there as they came in so there wasn't the need for repetitions. So it's definitely a great way to get things done in a timely manner," Mountain said.
All of the new smart boards were paid for by grant money.
