Quincy, Ill -

During last summer's flooding, hundreds of personnel from the Illinois Air National Guard were in the area helping with sandbagging efforts and patrolling levees.

Thursday, members of the Illinois Air National Guard were at Quincy University.

They were presenting Q-U's president Dr. Robert Gervasi with a framed photo of appreciation.

About 400 personnel stayed at Quincy University during the flooding.

The three pictures represent the three Air National Guard units in the state.

"We really couldn't have succeeded as well as we did and help the people of Quincy as well as all up and down the Mississippi River if we didn't have someplace like this to stay at," says Brigadier General Jay Sheedy.

The guard also plans to thank a couple of local schools for housing soldiers as well.

Those schools are Pleasant Hill and the former West Pike High School.
