A local landmark recently got some more national attention.

This entire site of the former town New Philadelphia near Barry is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Landmark.

That means it's recognized by the federal government as being nationally significant landmark.

You'll recall back in 1836 Free Frank McWorter founded the village.

He was the African American to incorporate a town in the United States.

Today, all that remains of the town are a few foundations of homes.
