Was to air on Monday, April 20
CHICAGO (AP) --
Oprah Winfrey posted messages on her Web site, Facebook page and Twitter account on Monday, April 20, letting viewers know she decided to pull an already-tape episode of her talk show on the Columbine High School massacre's 10th anniversary.
Winfrey wrote in the posts that she reviewed the show and decided it "focused too much on the killers."
A Harpo Productions spokeswoman confirmed the posts.
The episode titled "10 Years Later: The Truth about Columbine" was to air on Monday, April 20, the anniversary of the massacre in Littleton, Colo., that killed 12 students and a teacher.
Police officials, the author of the book "Columbine," and Columbine High School principal Frank DeAngelis were to appear on the episode.
Winfrey said she would air a program about a mother released from prison in place of the Columbine piece.
"Oprah" airs Monday-Friday at 4 p.m. on KHQA-TV.
