Special education teacher at Adams School in Quincy
QUINCY, IL -- Spring fever is starting to hit the air, and sometimes those nicer days make for antsy students who can't wait to get outside.
KHQA's Rajah Maples visited a local classroom earlier this week, where she found a KHQA Excellent Educator keeping her students' attention one book at a time.
Miss Robin Cain has taught special education in the Quincy Public School District for 19 years. She's spent a majority of those years here at Adams School.
What's kept you in the field?
Cain says, "The students. It's so much fun. Every year is a new year and just to see them grow and also the great staff we have. They're a good staff to work with."
Miss Cain spends a lot of time helping her students read and write.
She says, "If the kids feel successful, they're more apt to work, so whatever support I need to give them, that's what I need to give them. That's what I/we do so that they continue to work and continue to try."
Derek Moore says, "she helps me do spelling a lot."
Jenna Mills says, "She's very nice, and she helps me with math and spelling."
Chevy Cookson says, "if I'm stuck on a word, read a piece of it and sound it out."
Michael Freeman says, "she's a really good teacher. She helps us learn a lot."
And those are just some of the reasons that make Miss Robin Cain this month's KHQA Excellent Educator.
