DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a pandering charge after being accused of the more serious charge of human trafficking for helping recruit two Nebraska teenagers for prostitution.
Marcia Ryan was initially charged with ongoing criminal conduct, two counts of human trafficking and two counts of pandering. Under a plea agreement, she pleaded guilty to one count of pandering in March.
She was sentenced Thursday by a Crawford County District Court judge to 10 years in prison. A fine of up to $10,000 fine was suspended.
Ryan was accused of helping Leonard Russell recruit two girls from Nebraska for commercial sexual activity, including prostitution and performing at strip clubs.The girls, ages 15 and 16, were runaways.
