QUINCY, Ill. - The theme of this year's 40th annual Dogwood Festival is "Magnifying Community for 40 Years".

Thursday, April 30

7 p.m.  Little King and Queen of Dogwood Pageant, Quincy Mall Center Court

6:30 p.m. John Wood Community College Photography Show Awards Ceremony, 1301 S. 48th, Art Gallery in Paul Heath Center

 

Friday, May 1

6 p.m.  Opening ribbon cutting, Block Party

6 p.m.  Neighborhood Block Parties, various locations; sponsored by Y101/KICK-FM Radio

May Festival Federation Square Dancing, Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, 6th and York

 

Saturday, May 2

8 a.m.  Loghoggers Chainsaw Carving Show, 6th & Maine to Jail Alley; continues to dusk

8:30 a.m., Breakfast on the Lawn, First Christian Church, 1415 Maine

9 a.m.  Mississippi Valley Garden Club annual plant sale, Women’s City Club, 16th & Maine

9 a.m.-6 p.m.  Amusement rides, food, entertainment, crafts in Washington Park

9:30 a.m.  Parade, begins at 24th & Maine, proceeds west to 6th & Maine

10 a.m.  May Festival Federation Square Dancing, Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, 6th & York

11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  Entertainment on 5th Street, near Hampshire Street

12:30 p.m. Tricycle races registration; sponsored by Gem City Kiwanis Club

12:45 p.m. Tricycle races on 5th Street near Hampshire

2 p.m.  First Saturday Walking Tour of Lawndale addition area, 21st & Maine; sponsored by Gardner Museum of Architecture and Design; $2/person

 

Sunday, May 3

8 a.m.  Dogwood Bowl, Quincy High School 5-on-5 Flag Football Tournament, Flinn Stadium

9 a.m.  Loghoggers Chainsaw Carving Show, 6th & Maine to Jail Alley; continues until 3 p.m. 

12-4 p.m.  Amusement rides, food, entertainment, crafts in Washington Park

12:30-2 p.m.  Entertainment on 5th Street, near Hampshire Street

1 p.m.  Muddy Water Blues Society Can-Jam, Turner Hall, 926 Hampshire; 5 food items or $3/person entry fee

1:30 p.m. Annual Pet Show in Washington Park

3 p.m.  Loghoggers Chainsaw Carving Show Auction
