MOUNT VERNON, IOWA (AP) -- Authorities have arrested a man accused of taking knives and a pair of brass knuckles to a Mount Vernon school with the intent of assaulting a student.

Eighteen-year-old Adam Christenson, of Lisbon, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the school.

Police Sgt. Doug Shannon says authorities were called to the school about 2:45 p.m., after classes had been dismissed.

Shannon says Christenson is not a student at the school, but planned to assault a student.

Christenson is charged with going armed with intent.
