Business as usual for most places

Pike Co, MO-- Despite the heavy rains the Tri-States has been getting, many cities aren't too concerned.

We checked in with Louisiana, Missouri.  Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Director, Mike Lesley told us river levels there are expected to crest around 19.3 feet on Monday.  He told us he doesn't expect any major road closures or major flooding problems at this time.

But there could be minor flooding from creeks that affect the lower areas of Louisiana.

Lesley says,"We've taken some rides around town to see if we have to start anything whatsoever, and we're confident that we're right where we need to be."

Louisiana Mayor Don Giltner also told KHQA that the city's in the process of applying for grants for flood gates.  Giltner says flood gates would help prevent small flooding problems.  The gates will cost about $50,000.  The city could get them this year.

It's much of the same down the river in Clarksville, Missouri.

City Alderman Mike Brewer told us the city's not too concerned with high river levels at this point.  Brewer says as of now, it's just a wait and see game.

Q: Is there a concern for the city with high waters?

Brewer says,"Not at this point. With the prediction of 30.2, it's pretty much business as usual and we should get a little back up probably in our storm drains, but other than that, it's not really gonna concern us too much."

We also spoke to the owner of Dawn of Creations in Clarksville.  She told us she's not worried about her business location.

She says flooding comes with the territory, and has learned to deal with the Mississippi River.
