College students sturggling with drug and alcohol addictions
A new report shows a disturbing increase in the intensity of drinking and drug-taking on our college campuses.
The study by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse found that half of college students binge drink or abuse both illegal and prescription drugs. And nearly one in four college students meet the criteria for addiction.
There s another dangerous trend among younger students: more than a million American teens are getting high on common household products. According to a new report that found use of inhalants like glue, hair spray and nail polish is on the rise, especially among girls. Teenagers call it huffing; doctors say it can cause brain damage, organ failure and cardiac arrest.
Americans still aren't eating their fruits and vegetables. A government survey found less than a third of us eat the recommended amount. Only 27 percent of adults have vegetables three times a day. Only 33 percent eat fruit twice a day.
