Preliminary work should start in a matter of days
Get ready to see some action on the Kroc center in Quincy.
The lot at 5th and Broadway has set empty for several months, but in the coming months the Ray and Joan Kroc Center will stand there.
In the coming days, some prep work will start.
"This is site utility work. It'll be grading, hooking up electri, and hooking up sewer lines. All the good things to make the center be all it can be," says Major Alan Wurtz.
Major Alan Wurtz says there won't be an official groundbreaking ceremony until later this summer.
He wants to wait until the "brick and mortar" construction begins.
Some plans for the building are being finalized, and construction could begin in a couple of months.
It's still slated to be finished late next year.
By the way, the state is also doing work on the site.
It's adding sidewalks and a turn lane on 4th Street.
