SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Roland Burris is kicking off the second day of his tour through central Illinois by reiterating claims that a federal wiretap shows his innocence.

Speaking from Springfield, Burris told WGN-TV that a conversation secretly recorded last November between himself and former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's brother shows the senator didn't participate in a pay-to-play scheme.

Burris is also recorded promising to "personally do something" for the governor.

The senator says that since the wiretap was made public earlier this week, he hasn't been contacted by either the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee or the Sangamon County state's attorney.

Both are investigating Burris' appointment by Blagojevich.

The senator also added that he's considering writing his memoirs.
