''It appalls me,'' says Schuyler County sheriff says

The family of Glenn Hanning returned home from his funeral last week to discover another loss.

Someone stole more than $16,000 worth of Indian artifacts from his home during the funeral.

Hanning was well-known in the area for his extensive collection.

The Schuyler County Sheriff's Department is working with the Illinois State Crime Lab to find the thief.

Sheriff Don Schieferdecker has two suspects in what he calls the lowest crime he's ever investigated.

"It appalls me and many others to think that someone would take advantage of the sad time of a passing of a family member and enter the home to make profit," Sheriff Shieferdecker said.

If you have information about the theft, contact the Schuyler County Crime Stoppers at 217-322-3326.
