Wants energy-efficient vehicles for local govs in future

QUINCY, IL -- An Illinois State Representative wants to push local governments into buying more energy-efficient vehicles.

Mike Boland from the Quad Cities said he'll introduce legislation requiring local governments to buy flex-fuel vehicles, biodiesel, or hybrid vehicles the next time they buy.

"This is just replacement. You don't have to dump what you're doing right now and go out and get a new vehicle. This is only when you're ready to replace a car or truck,"  Boland said.

He said alternative fuels and vehicles will create a cleaner environment.
