MILFORD, Iowa (AP) - A Dickinson County judge has ordered a Milford preschool closed after two incidents involving children's safety. Iowa Department of Human Services spokesman Roger Munns says the judge issued his order on Wednesday for the Apple Tree Preschool and Daycare to close at the end of the day. Munns says about 30 children are enrolled at the center in Milford, just south of West Lake Okoboji.
A 5-year-old girl was injured after she was nearly strangled with a jump rope as she went down a slide at the preschool last week. Another incident involved a child found wandering on a nearby highway who was found by an employee of another business.
