If Illinois lawmakers can't fix the budget

The so called "doomsday" budget is making a lot of headlines in the state of Illinois this week.

State lawmakers are still split over whether to raise taxes to help avoid a possible $9.2 billion in budget cuts.

Meanwhile, thousands of agencies across the state are scrambling to figure out what to do if the cuts happen.

Chaddock in Quincy is in line for some of those cuts.

If the cuts do happen, caseload ratios for foster care would jump from 15 to one to 50 to one.

There would also be a 50 percent slash in cost of care reimbursements for foster parents.

"It's extremely frustrating becasue it's not about us as an agency, it's about the children that are involved. The kids have become a pawn in the process," says Karol Ehmen with Chaddock.

Lawmakers are due back in Springfield on Tuesday to resume budget talks.

Illinois' fiscal year ends June 30th.
