Teachers in Iowa got some good news this week.

A bipartisan vote in the Iowa legislature approved a plan to raise teachers salaries.

Right now teachers salaries in the state are ranked 42nd in the nation. The new plan will move that number up to 25th.

One of the biggest challenges the state has faced over the years is keeping graduating students from moving out of the state.

One platform of Iowa governor Chet Culver's campaign was the promise to increase teacher's pay.
