Koch discusses No Child Left Behind's challenges

QUINCY, ILL. -- The Illinois State Superintendent met with area school superintendents to talk about No Child Left Behind.

Christopher Koch is the interim superintendent of education.  He said as the federal government looks into re-authorizing the plan, educators need to be aware of new components that made be added on.

Koch also said this forum is a good way for superintendents to let him know about challenges they're facing with No Child Left Behind.

Koch said, "Certainly on the challenges educators face is meeting adequate yearly progress, particularly for a number of different subgroups, including students with disabilities. That's an area of expertise I have with working in special education and I expect today we will talk some about that."

Koch says another challenge for educators is finding the funding to accomplish everything the state and federal governments require.
