In the next few days, you have the chance to go back in time to one of the most historic events in this country's history.

On May 25, 1961, President Kennedy proclaimed America would land on the moon by the end of that decade.

As you well know, NASA put two people on the moon July 20th, 1969, making this the 40th anniversary.

And if you would like to relive the excitement or missed it by a few years, you can now see it in real time.

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

It's one of the most well known quotes in American history.

Those words will once again be spoken on Monday online.

The JFK Presidential Library in Boston has launched a website called www.wechoosethemoon.org in commemoration of the 40th anniversary.

If you log on now, you'll see a countdown to when the real magic happens.

At 7:02am our time on Thursday, the site will start 90 minutes before the actual launch of the Apollo 11 rocket. 

Once the rocket launches, you can follow the mission minute by minute on the website.

You'll be able to see animated recreations of specific events during the four day mission, including the first orbit of the moon by Apollo 11.

You can also hear the radio transmission between the astronauts and NASA flight controllers.
