Canton- Folks traveling the Canton Ferry to Illinois will see some improvements in the coming year.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has received a grant for $188 thousand for the ferry landing as part of the Federal Stimulus plan.

The money will cover the cost of constructing a heavy vehicle staging area, ramp and safety gates on the dock here in Canton, making it safer for travelers taking the ferry.
