Seven-month-old baby taken off life support
RALLS COUNTY, MO -- KHQA has confirmed that the Ralls County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri Highway Patrol Department of Drug and Crime Control and the Division of Family Services are investigating the death of a seven-month-old baby.
At some point on Sunday a baby boy was taken from his home on Meyers Trail just south of Hannibal to the emergency room at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
A time later the baby was rushed to the St. Louis Children's Hospital in St. Louis where he died Tuesday after he was taken off of life support.
At some point during the child's care either in Hannibal or St. Louis a physician called the Division of Family Services to report the injuries he or she encountered while examining the child.
We also know investigators are looking into this case right now, interviewing everyone involved. Ralls County Sheriff Ben Berghager told me that he and other investigators are required by state law to investigate all deaths of children under the age of 17.
The autopsy of the baby boy is scheduled for Thursday morning in St. Louis.
There is no suspect in custody, but we know that investigators are questioning people who might be related to the case.
