MOBERLY, Mo. (AP) - A northeast Missouri doctor faces charges after a state investigation.

Dr. Charles Sutherland of rural Moberly is accused of two counts of felony forgery and three counts of distribution of a controlled substance in violation of registration requirements.

Sutherland operates a medical clinic in Paris, Mo.

Sutherland also faces misdemeanor charges of deceptive business practice.

He is free on bond pending a court appearance on Aug. 25.

He was arrested after an investigation by the Missouri Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Authorities say Sutherland wrote unauthorized prescriptions.

Calls to Sutherland's clinic on Monday went unanswered.
