CHICAGO (AP) - The state Bureau of Tourism plans to announce Monday the results of its "Seven Wonders of Illinois" promotion.
There is one wonder for each of seven regions. The wonders include: Starved Rock State Park in Utica; Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello; Black Hawk State Historic Site in Rock Island and Rend Lake in Benton.
They also include: Wrigley Field in Chicago; the Baha'i House of Worship in Wilmette; and the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway, following a 33-mile strip of river through Alton, Grafton, Hartford and Elsah.
There were no rules for what could be a wonder. But Jan Kostner, the bureau's deputy director, says voters seemed inclined toward natural wonders.
