Improvements should help pay for bond
QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy city council recently approved 1.2 million dollars in bonds for the Quincy Civic Center to make some needed improvements. The civic center bond was cut back from 10 years to 6 years.
That means that they will have to make higher payments for a shorter amount of time.
The money will go to such things as adding acoustics to the exhibition hall, making roof repairs and other projects.
The Civic center board believes that the additional revenue generated from these improvements will be enough to pay off the bond in time. Director of administrative services Gary Sparks says that's good news for taxpayers because anytime a debt can be shortened it saves taxpayers dollars.
