SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- The Illinois House today overwhelmingly rejected the idea of imposing a massive new tax on business.
A resolution asking lawmakers whether they support the governor's tax proposal failed. No one voted for the plan, and 107 House members opposed it.
But Governor Rod Blagojevich tried to put the vote in a positive light. He portrayed it as a message that it's too early to decide the issue, rather than a rejection of the tax itself.
