(AP) -- MARK TWAIN LAKE, Mo. - The completion of the flood control project that created Clarence Cannon Dam and Mark Twain Lake in northeast Missouri was a quarter of a century ago, and Sen. Kit Bond says the project has been a huge success.
Bond was among the speakers at a ceremony on Saturday marking the 25th anniversary.
Cannon Dam was completed in 1984 along the Salt River after more than two decades of buyouts and land purchases. The result was Mark Twain Lake, which has become a popular getaway for boating, camping and fishing.
