CHICAGO (AP) - Triple-A says gas prices reached a record-high across most of Illinois today, climbing to an average of $3.32.
That's up 14 percent from the average one month ago.
At the Marathon gas station in Chicago's Mayfair neighborhood, a gallon of regular gas was selling for $3.89.
Frank Schanmier spent $20 dollars for a five-gallon top-off for his 60-gallon gas tank.
He says the high prices are overwhelming, especially since the typically expensive summer driving season hasn't even started yet.
Harry Jozefowicz says his family spends about $400 each month filling up their six cars. He doesn't like it, but says that's price he has to pay to stay mobile.
-----------
Nationally gas prices are at $3.10 a gallon, also a record high; in Quincy, gas is reported (at website gasbuddy.com) at $3.27 a gallon.
