WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Although there is no evidence of terrorist plots that could include suicide bombers, state and local emergency responders are preparing to deal with bombing threats.
A seminar at the Governor's Homeland Security Conference in West Des Moines was aimed at helping participants develop knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to such incidents, including suicide bombers.
Iowa Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management administrator David Miller said Tuesday there is no evidence of terrorist plots that could include suicide bombers in Iowa.
But Iowa has occasionally had criminal incidents involving pipe bombers and other explosive devices.
About 250 people are attending the state homeland security conference, which concludes Wednesday.
