WARRENSBURG, MO. (AP) -- The University of Central Missouri's Board of Governors has decided to replace the university's president.
The board has given no reason for its decision to oust Aaron Podolefsky, effective June 30.
He has been school president since July 2005.
Podolefsky on Tuesday said he was proud of his service at the university and believed he had excellent job prospects.
The board's decision came less than a month after more than half of the university's tenured faculty signed a petition asking the board to renew Podolefsky's contract in 2010.
The board voted in a closed meeting Oct. 2 against renewing Podolefsky's contract, but did not make the decision public for a week.
