QUINCY, IL -- The Gus Macker basketball tournament draws thousands every year to do battle on the Quincy street courts, but the Macker is about more than just basketball.
Antoine Jackson won first place at the slam dunk contest for the second year in a row.
He drove four hours from Joliet to do more than play basketball.
"It's just to entertain the children," Antoine Jackson said. "It feels good to win something, but it was all for the kids. It feels good as long as I can do something for the kids. That's all I'm focused on."
Antoine's passion for youth gives him something in common with Gus Macker chairman Chuck Venvertloh.
Venvertloh is a member of the Quincy Exchange Club, which hosted the tournament.
The Exchange Club's main objectives include supporting youth activities and preventing child abuse.
The Macker helps the club raise money to give back to the community.
"The Exchange Club that's sponsoring this, we raise money that we donate back to the community. We fund different organizations that come to us for money and we're glad to give it back to them," Chuck Venvertloh said. "It's the main thing we do down here. We try and raise money. We're a service club so we're trying to donate back to the community."
Macker basketball players help Venvertloh and the Exchange Club bring in more than 30-thousand dollars every year for the community.
