QUINCY, Illinois- "From entrance to install, we're with you all the way."
That's the motto of the Land of Lincoln Countertop Company in Quincy.
One year ago, KHQA's It's Your Business report, spotlighted this new business that wanted to take the stress out of remodeling your kitchen or bathroom.
KHQA's Stephen Johnson recently sat back down with the owners and found out that a lot has changed in a year's time.
Last October we introduced you to Josh and Erin Cook.
At that time they were just opening the doors to their new business in Quincy called the Land of Lincoln Countertop Company located at 221 N. 24th street.
From the marble for your countertops to the wood for your cabinets, Land of Lincoln prides itself on being a one stop shop for homeowners and contractors.
Since we first met them, Josh and Erin have also added a full line of flooring.
So now they can take you from start to finish on any project.
We asked Erin what kind of response they got from our original story.
She said the response was great, " People were coming in the door and saying, " I didn't even know you were here" and "Hey, you were the girl on T.V." So you knew that they were hearing it and that they saw it and that it made an impact. And that Quincy and the surrounding area are watching and listening to what's going on in their community."
A new member of the team at Land of Lincoln Countertop Company is Emily Bickhuas.
By using computer models and good old fashioned comparisons, she can help you find the perfect combination of features that are right for your project.
Emily says, " It's just very rewarding to see them very happy and very pleased, knowing that you had a small part in that, you know, to see their vision become a reality."
"And we've also expanded with an in-house cabinetry installer. So he had 28+ years experience underneath his belt. We can sell a cabinet to you, but we can go that extra step and install them for you."
And business is booming.
I asked Josh if he was surprised at how much of a need there has been for his services in the area?
Josh says, "The Hannibal/ Quincy area's been very good to us. Not only have we expanded in our showroom, we need to expand in our workshop area as well. I feel like there's times when I need to be working a hundred hours a week in order to keep up with the demand we're getting on the stone countertop side of things."
Erin says she knows all the hard work has been worth it every time they hear back from a satisfied contractor or customer.
She says , " The homeowners are so happy in the end and that's what really makes my job. When they say, " Erin please come back over to my house, please come see what you did." And you see the final project, and it almost brings tears to your eyes because they are so happy. That's a job well done and we'll continue to do that for a long time."
Josh and Erin say that if their business continues to grow the way it has been, they will probably have to move to a bigger location in the near future.
