QUINCY, IL -- The Quincy City Council passed an amendment to the city budget, which reflects cuts made by department heads.
Director of Administrative Services Gary Sparks says the cuts, which don't include furlough days, would leave the city with 1.6 million dollars in reserve going into next year.
It would be offered to employees with at least 25 years of service and those 60 years or older who have at least 10 years of service.
The council also voted 9 to 5 after a long discussion to buy a new fire truck for the fire department.
The city is getting a $250,000, 0-percent interest from the fire marshal's office.
The city will take out a low-interest, 6-year loan for the rest.
