SCHUYLER COUNTY, Illinois-  The Schuyler county Illinois Health Department has just received a new shipment of the H1N1 vaccine.

Although they have both the nasal and injectable forms of the vaccine, the supplies are limited.

Two flu clinics are scheduled for this week.

The first one will be on Thursday, November 5th from 3 to 6pm. 

The second will be on Friday, November 6th from 9am to noon.

These two clinics are specifically targeted at groups that  are at risk.

Anyone who does not fit the at risk criteria will be turned away.

H1N1 Clinics Set for This Week

Schuyler County Health Department has received a limited supply of the H1N1 active and inactive vaccine. In order to reach the priority groups, vaccines will be available at two clinics held this week at the Health Department, Thursday, November 5th from 3pm-6pm and Friday November 6th from 9am-12pm.

Those able to receive the inactive (shot form) vaccine from the Health Department at this time are those 6 months to 36 months of age, pregnant women, healthcare workers , and those 64 years of age and under (including school-aged children) with chronic underlying medical conditions. The active (nasal spray) vaccine is only available for healthy individuals who are 2-49 years of age and healthcare workers who do not have regular contact with anyone who is immunocompromised and who have not had a live vaccination in the last 28 days. Anyone not fitting into one of these groups will be turned away at the clinic.

As more vaccines become available the Health Department plans on going into the local schools to administer the inactive vaccine. The inactivated vaccine will only be available at the schools when additional vaccines are available. For those who prefer the active vaccine they are only available at the Health Department.
