Quincy city leaders take on extra duties

The city of Quincy is reorganizing some key positions and some city personal are taking on extra duties.

Along with his regular duties, City Engineer Jeff Steinkamp will take over as the interim director of Central Service.

Steinkamp will be paid an addition $56 hundred dollars a year on top of his $84,940 salary.

Quincy Transit Lines Director John Ohnemus retires at the end of the year and at that time Quincy Regional Airport Manager Marty Stegeman will take over as Interim Transit Director. Stegeman will get an additional 48 hundred dollars in addition to his $70,739 for taking on both jobs.

The city will also not replace Director of Purchasing Dave Hummel plans on retiring soon, when he does his duties will be assumed by Comptroller Ann Scott. She will get an increase of $7649 a year to her $79,290 salary.

Director of Administrative Services Gary Sparks say that the Purchasing position change is permanent but the Transit and Central Services changes are expected to last about  12 to 18 months.

Sparks also says that the city's revenue picture is expected to remain poor for at least another year.
