Couple remains hospitalized a month after house fire
KEOKUK, IOWA (AP) -- A Keokuk couple remain hospitalized nearly a month after two of their three children died in a house fire.
Relatives say 25-year-old Joyce Boley continues to undergo treatment for extensive burns. Her sister, Cheryl Boley, says she has been under sedation at University Hospitals in Iowa City since the day of the fire on May 15. She remains in critical condition.
Two of her children, two-year-old Elizabeth White and four-year-old Dylan White, died of smoke inhalation. A third child, six-year-old Dalton White, escaped the burning home.
The children's father, 34-year-old Matthew White, suffered serious burns and was taken to University Hospitals.
The hospital says no information is available about the couple.
Keokuk Fire Chief Mark Wessel says neither fire victim has been well enough to answer questions about the fire.
