QUINCY, IL -- Press Release from the Quincy Kennel Club
On Tuesday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m., Klingele Veterinary Clinic will be providing 1/2 price Canine Influenza vaccines at K & L Arena in conjunction with Quincy Kennel Club's monthly new member night.
Canine Influenza is a highly contagious disease characterized by a cough and increased nasal secretions. In it's severe form, a fever and pneumonia can develop and the affected dog is at risk of death. Canine Influenza is transmitted by direct contact with the nasal secretions of infected dogs. Therefore, any dog that comes in contact with another dog is at risk for contracting Canine Influenza.
Klingele Veterinary Clinic has treated cases of Canine Influenza this season, at least one of which resulted in death and, in an effort to curb the spread of the disease, will dispense the initial vaccine on December 1st with a follow up booster in 3 weeks. The half price cost for the vaccine and the booster is $15. This event is open to the public and is not limited to members of the Quincy Kennel Club's training classes.
