SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A woman who robbed a central Illinois bank of nearly $7,000 last spring with her husband's help is headed to federal prison for nearly five years.
Skipper Giardina, 37, of Virden was sentenced Monday in Springfield.
Giardina pleaded guilty in August.
Her 37 year old husband, Dale Giardina, pleaded guilty the next month to aiding and abetting his wife in the holdup.
He's to be sentenced Feb. 8, 2010.
Authorities say Skipper Giardina used a handgun at a bank in the Sangamon County village of Divernon on March 27 to force tellers to fill a bag with money.
The woman also claimed a PVC-style pipe with wires, batteries and a circuit board was a bomb.
The device was later determined not to be a bomb.
