Wind is the biggest problem
QUINCY, ILL. -- When it's cold outside, all we want to do is stay inside.
Joe Sigler's job doesn't allow him to do that.
He is a school crossing guard in Quincy.
So what is his secret to staying warm in the coldest weather?
Sigler says he wears five layers of clothes to stay warm, but Mother Nature does bring one element that is hard to deal with - wind.
Sigler once lived in Iceland so he knows how rough it can get.
While winter in the Tri-States isn't like Iceland, Sigler says the last couple of days have been the coldest since he became a fulltime crossing guard four years ago.
Despite what Mother Nature dishes out, Sigler says he prefers winter to summer.
Sigler dresses warmly, but he says not all kids who walk to school are as prepared.
They often become impatient wanting to head into the school where it's warm.
