COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Officials say a gas leak has forced about 4,000 workers to evacuate an industrial area of Columbus, Ohio.
Fire Battalion Chief David Whiting says firefighters were called at about 8 a.m. to Heartland Petroleum after a leak of hydrogen and hydrogen sulfide.
Whiting says emergency medical crews treated three people and took one to a hospital after a tube leaked.
He says the gas cloud has dissipated and the air is safe around the plant, which recycles oil. Workers will not be allowed back until around 2 p.m.
Among the businesses evacuated was the corporate headquarters of footwear retailer DSW Inc.
