Quincy woman gets 15 years in prison
(AP) -- QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - An Adams County judge has handed down a 15-year prison sentence to a Quincy woman who admitted to bilking a nursing home out of $14,500.
The defendant, 43-year-old Amy Guthrie McNair, faced as long as 30 years in prison when she reported Friday for sentencing. McNair pleaded guilty last month to stealing from the North Adams Home in Mendon, as well as to an unrelated insurance fraud charge.
She was charged in July with forgery, theft and obstruction of justice, all stemming from her employment at North Adams Home. The offenses allegedly took place between April and July this year. Authorities say McNair now has 18 felony convictions, mostly from Florida, dating to the early 1980s. She also has spent time in Illinois and Missouri prisons.
