Weekend before Christmas draws crowds
QUINCY, ILL. -- " I found the perfect thing for my sister and law so I'm really excited about that," said shopper Laurie Vandenboom.
Q: What kinds of things are you looking for today? Anything that'll make her happy," said last minute shopper Rocklin Elledge.
The Quincy mall and local boutiques are filled with shoppers, all trying to beat that deadline on Christmas Day. While many people here are putting the finishing touches on their Christmas list, some people are just getting started.
"I've been a procrastinator this year. I've been a little bit buh-hum bug and I just kind of put it off," said last minute shopper Connie Willett.
While last minute shopping may be stressful for you, it's music to retailers ears. Charlie Ann's Clothing store in downtown Quincy is getting lots of shoppers looking for fashionable gifts, even gift certificates.
"We've been really busy. I'm just amazed at the amount of people we have in here," said sales associate Phyllis Hardy with Charlie Ann's Clothing Store.
And while the economy is still on the road to recovery, we got mixed reactions from shoppers on their spending habits this year.
"I'm spending less...financial, the economy in general and I think there's things we need to cut back on," Willett said.
"Probably less, because our son's getting married next year and he just wants money," said Vandenboom.
"I think we're spending a little more this year. Work's been good to me this year, so we're spending a little extra, Elledge said.
