PITTSFIELD, ILL. -- Illinois State Police District 20 Commander Captain Patrick Staples released enforcement results from the Lifesavers Mobilization C.A.R.E. Holiday Weekend December 18 – December 20. Enforcement figures totaled 97 arrests including 33 for speeding and 33 for occupant restraint. In addition, one individual was charged with an alcohol related offense. There were 20 written warnings issued, including nine for speeding. Troopers assisted 22 disabled motorists and handled 11 motor vehicle crashes.
Captain Staples would like to point out there were no fatal crashes over the holiday weekend for the sixth straight year in District 20. The Lifesavers Mobilization CARE Campaign is a catalyst in keeping travelers safe, and we hope this trend continues throughout the holiday season.
District 20 State Police will continue to focus on fatal five and Scott’s Law violations. We remind motorists when approaching a stationary emergency vehicle or Highway Maintenance vehicle with its emergency lights activated, you should proceed with caution, change lanes if possible and safe to do so, and reduce your speed (slow down).
