Three fire crews responded to the blaze

Durham, Missouri -- Three fire departments battled the cold and the snow to fight a fire in Durham, Missouri Wednesday night.

Just before 9 pm crews responded to a call at 30151 Maple Ave.

A large machine shed and workshop, owned by the David and Glenda Ahern of Durham, was on fire.

The shed was used to restore and refinish antiques.

Crews from the Ewing, Maywood and Lewistown fire departments responded to the scene.

The building and a vehicle in front of it were a total loss.

Firefighters were able to save a nearby trailer that had some antiques stored inside of it.

The cause of the fire is  under investigation.

This fire was also " baptism by fire" of sorts for the 5 Jr. Fighfighters.

Zach Mathis, Merritt Lomax, LeAnne Pierce, Austin Stark, and Garth Wilson are all students at Highland Highschool.

Mathis, Lomax, & Pierce recently 18 and were allowed for the first time to fully participate in fighting the fire.

But according to Dave Lomax with the Ewing fire department all five of them more than pulled their weight under some difficult circumstances.
