ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A former Missouri House member who admitted taking a bribe has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Talibdin "T.D." El-Amin of St. Louis was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis. He also was ordered to pay $2,100 restitution.
El-Amin, a Democrat, resigned from the House after pleading guilty in September to soliciting and taking money from a gas station owner who sought help dealing with St. Louis officials.
Prosecutors said El-Amin accepted $2,100 in exchange for promises to intervene on the businessman's behalf with city officials. They said he also solicited an additional $500 for himself and $1,000 to be paid as a bribe to a city department head.
His attorney, Paul D'Agrosa, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
