Iowa roads covered, more snow expected

IOWA CITY, IOWA (AP) -- Most of Iowa fell under a winter storm warning early Thursday morning, and parts of the state could see up to 9 inches of snow pile up.
   
Meteorologist John Hinsberger of the National Weather Service says when the snow tapers off, expect severe wind chills Thursday night and Friday morning that could dip to 30 degrees below zero.
   
Snow covered roads in the Des Moines metro area and most of southwest, northwest and southeast Iowa on Thursday morning. The Iowa State Patrol reports slightly better conditions in northeast Iowa.
   
A Grimes resident died in a weather-related crash on Wednesday afternoon near Des Moines when the driver of a semi slowed for an accident on Interstate Highway 80 and the Grimes resident slammed into the back of the truck.
