CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (AP) -- Cedar Rapids police say they have received three separate reports from businesses that have been stuck with counterfeit $100 bills.
The counterfeit bills were first circulated at a Road Ranger store and a Casey's store on Jan. 2.
In both cases, the clerk used a marker and verified that they were "real." However, upon further examination, it was determined they were fake.
On Jan. 4, a woman purchased clothing at the Vanity Store and paid with a bogus $100 bill.
In all cases, the counterfeit bills were later found to be smaller in size than a regular bill. Authorities say although the bills felt real and the markers indicated the bills were real, there was no security mark or watermark and there were white edges on the bills.
