CHICAGO, ILL. (AP) -- A task force on the safety of Illinois nursing homes is hearing more public comments before making its final report to Gov. Pat Quinn.
The group is scheduled to meet Thursday morning in Chicago with a videoconference connection in Springfield.
The task force released draft recommendations last week.
Those recommendations are aimed at ending a pattern of assaults in nursing homes by residents with criminal backgrounds and mental illness.
The draft report was greeted as a helpful first step by advocates for nursing home residents and the mentally ill.
Nursing homes and hospitals objected to some details.
Task force chairman Michael Gelder wants to have a final report to Quinn by the end of the month.
