Neil McCoy, Oak Ridge Boys, and other Major Events Announced for Hannibal’s Clemens Field
HANNIBAL, MO. -- The following is a news release from the Hannibal Convention & Visitors Bureau;
Thursday the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau were pleased to announce their sponsorship of the following events coming to historic Clemens Field this spring and summer. From baseball to concerts, the following events will enhance the efforts to market 2010 as the “Year of Mark Twain” in his hometown of Hannibal.
From May 6-10th the HCVB will co-sponsor the NAIA American Midwest Conference Championship Tournament at Clemens Field. This five day tournament will consist of eight to nine games played by teams from five colleges and universities from a three state region including Hannibal LaGrange College.
On Saturday, May 15th the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau along with KICK FM and Y101 Radio will present, “Let’s Get This Party Started” a concert event at Clemens Field. The concert, a production of CASA DE LOCO Entertainment will feature the rising country star Candy Coburn, who is set to release her second CD this spring. Coburn has gained national attention and recognition as her hit “Pink Warrior” has been chosen as the anthem for Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and is being featured in national advertising campaigns. Coburn will be opening for the Marshall Tucker Band, a group that has been performing for over thirty years, gaining multiple gold and platinum albums in their career that has stretched from Rock and Roll to Country and Gospel. The Marshall Tucker Band will be headlining the evening event and rocking the night away at Clemens Field. On July 3rd the HCVB and KICK FM along with CASA DE LOCO Entertainment will present a one day music festival called “God and Country” featuring music from afternoon until evening concluding with a fireworks spectacular. Beau Hicks, Executive Director of the HCVB says this event will help to enhance the annual National Tom Sawyer Day’s festival, “With NTSD being named one of the top 100 events in North American in 2010 this announcement today will help to blow this year’s celebration out of the water! I’ve spoken to the Jaycees and they are ready for this music festival to help draw an even larger crowd to their events this year.” The one day music festival will feature one of the top gospel music groups in the nation in the afternoon session, which cannot be named yet due to contract regulations.
However, Hicks says the afternoon and evening entertainers can be named, “We are prepared to announce that both Neil McCoy and The Oak Ridge Boys will be performing on July 3rd at Clemens field as part of this day long music festival!” Platinum and multi gold selling country artist Neil McCoy, best known for his likeable personality, USO Tours and hits like “Wink” and “Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On,” will be performing in the afternoon session. The evening session will conclude with a return of last year’s sold out concert sensation as The Oak Ridge Boys take the stage to once again blow their fans away with their hits that have sold them over 30 million albums in their career. The Oak Ridge Boys have won dozens of awards in their career including a Grammy for their hit “Elvira” and the ACM Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
