CLARK COUNTY, MO -- Clark County voted last Tuesday for a half-cent sales tax to pay for a new court house.
But one more election is needed for the final project to pass.
On April 6, 2010 voters will go back to the poles giving authorization to borrow money and issue bonds.
As a part of the Federal Stimulus program, the county will get four million dollars in low interest loans to pay for the new structure.
Those loans will save the county almost one point three million dollars in interest payments.
As you can see there are cracks in the limestone foundation, temporary jacks currently hold up the floor.
Hugh cracks on the walls, cramped working space for employees and heating the courthouse is costing lots of money.
Currently plastic is on the windows to keep the cold out.
We spoke with Jerry Neyens the Clark County Eastern Commissioner, he was very pleased with the turned out at the election and needs the same showing in April.
If the ballot issue passes in April then the architecture and engineers will draw up the final plans and the they enter the bidding process.

If all goes as planned ground breaking of the new courthouse on the courthouse square will be in late summer.
